Let's Laugh

They say laughter is the greatest medicine. And medicine applies to sickness, but one must remember that illness doesn't just effect the physical body, but it effects one mentally and emotionally as well. Throughout my life, as short as it may be, i've experienced a lot of pain. I don't like to dwell on it though, I don't allow it to control me. Same goes for my peers, many of them have experienced worse than I have, and as far as i've read, worse than some of you.
But laughter has been our biggest cure. It's gotten us through tough times. Not always together, but we all have something that makes us laugh.
We laugh at our own pain, we make humor out of it. Out of our own sob stories, we make jokes, stories, etc.
Example, i've never known my real father, and my friend is adopted.
It's been  harder for her than it has been for me though, but we like to always torture ourselves and think about what our parents are like.
She likes to think her parents are celebrities.
I like to think my dad would be a cooperate manager of some company that makes eleven figures a year.

But after our hyped up conversation, talking about what our parents would look like, what they'd do for use if we met them, or what expensive gifts they would buy us (we're not rich at all, we're considered lower middle class), we concluded that our parents were most likely druggies selling crack on the street.
As sad as we were, our laughter took care of it for us.
I've got sadder stories that involve police officers and restraining orders, guns and what nots, and through all of them, I thank humor for getting me through it.

My cousin told me once that “At the end of the day, you've gotta laugh at something,” this was a result of a conversation regarding her husband who'd been arrested. My Grandfather and Grandmother, who are African American, turned towards laughter during segregation. Times were tough there, they were harassed and mistreated, but laughter helped them through it.

Lastly, realize that you do not have the worst life on the planet. As harsh as it may sound, I want you to know that. Someone always has it worse than you, and with your own pain, you can lend them a helping hand.

So let's laugh at our pain together, share your stories and help others, find humor in them. Laughter is joy,  joy is light and the only enemy against darkness.

And just for fun:data2.whicdn.com/images/564987…
